How to compare international sulphur prices
Separate a spot price from a contract reference
The Middle East spot FOB range is USD 740–790/t in this report, while the fourth-quarter contract row has its own USD 783–870/t range. Their periods differ: neither should replace the other or be presented as a universal sulphur price. Use the prior-week column only with the corresponding spot row.
Check the form, destination and freight basis
Granular, lump and molten sulphur appear as separate assessments or explicitly grouped forms. FOB origin and CFR destination are different price bases. CFR already includes the quoted sea-freight component; adding a freight-table rate again would double-count it. A route assessment alone is not a complete delivered-cost calculation.
Keep currencies and tonne definitions visible
Most rows use USD per metric tonne. China ex-works rows use CNY/t, and the Tampa contract uses USD/lt rather than USD/t. Do not merge these into one range without an explicit, dated conversion. A daily marker and a monthly average also cover different time periods.
Market report date: 15 October 2026. Editorial guide reviewed: 19 October 2026. The editorial review does not update the price assessments.
What is the sulphur price per tonne in this report?
There is no single worldwide price. Selected spot assessments dated 15 October 2026 are USD 740–790/t FOB Middle East excluding Iran, USD 860–880/t CFR China for granular sulphur, and USD 880–955/t CFR Brazil. These are dated references, not today's live quotations.
Are sulfur and sulphur different products?
Sulfur and sulphur are spelling variants. The commercially relevant distinctions in these tables are the specified physical form, location, period, currency and delivery basis.
Can the freight table be added to every sulphur price?
No. A CFR destination price already includes freight. FOB and freight references can help frame a comparison only when route, date, cargo size and product basis align; other costs and contractual terms can still differ.
