Product overview
Acrylonitrile is a clear, flammable liquid with a strong, sharp odor and is toxic in nature.
It has limited solubility in water but readily dissolves in most organic solvents.
As a conjugated unsaturated nitrile, its molecular structure includes a carbon-carbon double bond and a cyano group, which allow it to undergo various reactions.
These include hydration to form acrylamide and acrylic acid, diene synthesis with dienes, hydrogenation to produce propionitrile and propylamine, copolymerization with acrylamide, electrolytic coupling to create adiponitrile, and serving as a cyanoethylation agent for alcohols and amines.
