Formic acid is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor.
Formic acid is a weak electrolyte, but its aqueous solution is weakly acidic and corrosive, which can stimulate skin blistering.
Commonly found in the
secretions of bees, certain ants, and caterpillars.
It is an organic chemical material and is also utilized as a disinfectant and antiseptic.
Applications
In the leather industry, leather tanning agents, deliming agents, and neutralizing agents are used in tanning deliming, hair removal, and lime in order to prevent the wet leather mildew.
In the rubber industry, the coagulant of formic acid is natural rubber.
In the animal feed industry, formic acid used for forage and grain storage significantly inhibits or prevents mold from growing.
In the chemical industry, formic acid is formic acid calcium and sodium formate epoxy soybean oil products like the production of raw materials.
