Product overview
Phosphoric acid, also known as Orthophoric acid, is a common inorganic acid with the formula H3PO4 , and is most commonly used in aqueous solutions containing 85% Phosphoric acid.
There are two preparation methods, Thermal method and Wet method, the main raw materials are Yellow phosphorus and Phosphate rock.
Widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, food additives and electroplating industries.
Properties
| Physical State | Colorless transparent or slightly pale, viscous liquid |
|---|---|
| Solubility | Can be mixed with water in an infinite proportion, but at the same time it has a dehydration-hydration equilibrium reaction with water. |
| Acidity | Faintly acid |
| Corrosiveness | Phosphoric acid solutions can be corrosive to certain metals and materials. |
| Toxicity | Phosphoric acid is a non-toxic inorganic substance. In laboratory and industry, a mixture of non-toxic phosphates and weak acids (such as citric acid) is often used as a buffer solution. |
| Bleaching | Bleaching agent in industries such as paper and textiles. Sodium metasilicate helps to whiten and brighten materials. |
| Compatibility | Compatible with a wide range of other chemicals and ingredients commonly used in industrial and household formulations. |
Applications
Phosphoric acid can be used as a sour agent in cans and beverages such as cola. It can be used as a yeast nutrient source and PH regulator to prevent the propagation of miscellaneous bacteria in brewing.
Phosphoric acid can be used to make phosphorus-containing drugs, such as Sodium glycerophosphate.
Within rubber and plastic industry, phosphoric acid is used as an acidic catalyst for thermoplastic Phenol resin; Coagulant for slurry and raw materials for producing inorganic inder.
Phosphoric acid is used to produce Sodium.
