Product overview
AVB is a very effective oil-soluble UVA I absorber for a wide range of applications.
It demonstrates maximum absorption at 357 nm with a specific extinction of about 1100, and it has additional absorbing properties in the UVA II spectrum.
Applications
Avobenzone is a widely used UV-A absorber, along with recognized UV-B absorbers such as octyl methoxycinnamate, in everyday cosmetic formulations such as creams and lotions. AVB can also be used in sunscreen formulations, where the concentration of both filters is high enough to provide excellent protection by blocking UV-A radiation. It can also be used in various other applications such as:
In formulation of protective hair care preparations
As a viscosity stabilizer for gels based on polyacrylic acid when exposed to uv-radiation.
