Benzophenone-3 is a broad-spectrum ultraviolet absorber, which is white or light yellow powder at room temperature.

It absorbs both UVA and UVB, and is a Type I sunscreen approved by the US FDA.

This product is often used in combination with OMC, HMS, and OS to achieve high SPF.

Applications

In the cosmetic industry, BP-3 can be used as a light stabilizer in a series of sunscreens, lotions and perfumes.

Used as an oil stabilizer in conditioners and body washes;

Acts as a hair protectant against the harmful effects of UV radiation, such as in hair gels, shampoos and hair styling lotions, mousses and sprays;
