Benzophenone-4 is a broad-spectrum UV absorber, which is white or light yellow powder at room temperature.
It absorbs both UV-A and UV-B, and is an FDA-approved Class I sunscreen, widely used in cosmetic products such as sunscreen creams, lip care, styling lotions, regular and glossy hairsprays.
Applications
Colourant protector in transparent packaging.
As a viscosity stabilizer for gels based on polyacrylic acid when exposed to uv-radiation.
As a stabilizer for fragrance oils in conditioning and body cleansers.
As a protector of hair against the ill effects of UV radiation in hair gels, shampoos and hair setting lotions, mousses and sprays.
As a protection against the sunburn in aqueous based formulation, such as in cosmetics for sunscreen, facial anti-aging and other products.
As a colour fastness improver of dye fabrics in textiles
