Cetearyl alcohol (Alcohols, C16-18) is a mixture of fatty alcohols consisting of cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol.
White solid crystal, granular or waxy block.
Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform and mineral oil.
In contrast to ethanol, cetearyl alcohol not only has no drying effect, but has a moisturizing effect.
It has the functions of inhibiting greasy feeling, reducing the viscosity of wax raw materials, and stabilizing cosmetic emulsions.
Used as a co-emulsifier, emollient, to improve viscosity and emulsion stability in finished products, and to soften skin.
Applications
As a lipid alcohol, the lipids of cetearyl alcohol are extracted from vegetable fats or oils. It can be used in the cosmetic industry, in the pharmaceutical industry, and in industrial applications.
Used in the cosmetic industry, cetearyl alcohol has moisturizing effect and can be used as a co-emulsifier, especially suitable for creams and lotions, such as ointments, eye ointments, nasal ointments, vaginal creams, sunscreens, etc.
Used in the pharmaceutical industry, it can be directly used in W/O emulsifier paste, ointment base, etc.
